I originally posted this picture on another website with the following commentary:

Taken in the Kardjali city market in South Eastern Bulgaria. Most of the residents in this region are ethnic Turkish. Very warm and loving people despite the occasional ethnic tensions elsewhere in Bulgaria.

Originally I wanted pictures of his wife, however this gentleman was determined that I would buy an eye, and eventually I took a few frames of him which turned out better.

For the pictures I had to stay and drink hot coffee with them in the outdoor market around 40 degrees at 14:00 in late July. Next time I'll buy a towel.
